Education Services

The education services are consistently and continuously one of the most dynamic areas of work in the DGPC Museums, Monuments and Palaces.

In recent years they have broadened their scope by diversifying initiatives, thereby accompanying the development of the very concept of education, unanimously recognised by international bodies as one of the main lines of action for entities managing museums and monuments.

From this perspective, specific actions aimed at various audiences (schools and others) seek to encourage liaisons with different entities and to extend the educational function to all sectors of activity of the DGPC museums, palaces, and monuments. This is done by developing projects that stimulate visitors’ creativity, literacy, and intergenerational and multicultural sharing, thereby responding to the pressing needs of contemporary society.

The objective is to contribute to a greater diversity of activities, develop the skills of the employees, encourage greater reflection, exchange of experiences, knowledge and evaluation of pedagogical strategies that seek to raise public awareness about key issues of contemporary society, with emphasis on cultural heritage and the environment.

These strategies are pursued by developing a wide range of cultural activities, such as workshops, storytelling, music, theatre or dance shows, seminars, guided visits to collections or to specific sectors of the museum or monument, and also by publishing books and didactic tools aimed at various audiences and responding with improved standards to their growing demand.
